Frustration

Filed under: Walking — theviewfrommykitchenwindow @ 11:25 am

The boy was supposed to go walking with me this AM.  But, he was tired & just not feeling up to an early morning.  So, I decided to take the pup with me & leave him home to rest.

We didn’t get out of here until after 7:30 am.  Luckily it was a cool morning.  60 degrees when we left.  64 degrees by the time we returned.

Pup was thrilled with the prospect of going for a ride.  She flew out the garage door & waited patiently while I got the car and her crate set up.  Without hesitation she jumped right in, ready for the ride.

Well, silly girl decided she wanted nothing to do with getting out of the crate when we arrived at our destination.  I had to drag her out by her front legs.  Sure wasn’t going to give up my walk for her stubborness.

She fought me the entire first twenty minutes of our walk.  I know she hates the nose collar.  But, I can not walk her with out it.  After the initial 20 minutes, she resigned herself to walking and was amazingly good.

We ended up walking Water Street to the river, back by the PO & then on to the puddle jumper.  Total time was 55 minutes.  I’d guess we were lucky to have an actual walking time of 50 minutes.

When we got back to the car, pup immediately got into her crate.  Poor thing laid down & started rubbing her paw over her nose to get the collar off.  Oh, the guilt.  She looked so pitiful.

Well, my legs hurt for over half of the walk.  It’s gotta get better?  Right?

To be honest, I’m discouraged.  Struggling really.  Since Thursday, I’ve put on 4 lbs.  ????  You’ve got to be kidding me! When I stepped on the scale, I was floored.  It took 3 weeks to drop 2 lbs originally!

Really, between the lack of progress & my legs hurting, I’m frustrated.  Not giving up.  But, still frustrated & baffled.  Gah!

Early Morning

Filed under: Walking — theviewfrommykitchenwindow @ 11:06 am

Amazingly, I felt energized when I woke up this morning.  Haven’t felt like that in a long time.

The pup & I left the house at 6:30 am.  We walked for an hour, minus the few fits she threw over the nose collar. Silly girl! It was our normal route, only we looped the school before heading for Armstrong.

My legs hurt for the first half hour.  Normally, they quit bothering me after 15 minutes.

I’m trying to figure out how to manage getting my morning walks this summer while the boy is home.  Plus, getting in an early morning routine will help beat the heat.  Last shift will be perfect.

After hubby wakes up (sleeping off last shift), we need to run some errands.  The boy needs some black pants for his end of year band performance on Wednesday.

We also are in desperate need of a trip to the market.  Just this morning, I used up the last of the eggs, OJ, red peppers, green peppers & dog treats. There hasn’t been bread in the house for over a week. Ran out of onions, radishes & broccoli.  We are scraping the bottom of the peanut butter jar & almost out of carrots, milk & bananas.  A market trip is definitely on the agenda today.

So Tired

Filed under: Walking — theviewfrommykitchenwindow @ 8:47 pm

Two more days of walking.

Thursday, the pup & I walked an hour.  (To Armstrong & back, then around the school.)  By the time we got back to the puddle jumper, girlie was so anxious to get in her crate to go home.  She barely made time for a quick drink.

I was proud of her.  She did rather well.  Only tried to get the nose collar off a few times.

Honestly, I took her with me mainly to keep myself from walking too long.  It worked.

Today I seriously over did the walking.  I walked for 2 hours.  Didn’t really feel it until the last 5 minutes.  But sure am feeling it now.  My legs hurt.  I’m so stiff that moving is slow.  And, I want to go to bed.  Not possible just yet.  *sigh*  Just so, so tired!

Today’s path:  To Armstrong, by PO, ran the stairs, around college, up Main & around school.  Back to Armstrong, by PO, back Main, & around school.

Hopefully, I will be just fine to get a walk in the AM.  Think I’ll take the pup, just to keep myself from doing something stupid.

Tuesdays

Filed under: Walking — theviewfrommykitchenwindow @ 2:41 pm

What is it with Tuesday?  I had another Tuesday night of very fitful sleep.  My hands and feet just throbbed miserably, keeping me awake.

Unfortunately, I think I’m back in a relapse.  Darn it!  But, I’m bound and determined to fight it tooth & nail.

Dh & I were able to walk Monday & Tuesday, despite my aching hands & feet.  My feet don’t hurt anymore after walking, than not.  So I may as well put one foot in front of the other & get some excersize.

Our walks, so far this week:

Monday–1 hour 20 min, Main to G & back to Main.  Then around the school. Felt pretty good for this one.

Tuesday–1 hour 30 min, Main to Armstrong, to G & onto playground, through Airport & around school.  Didn’t feel too great starting out, but felt tons better by Armstrong.

Due to lack of sleep, I took today off.  Ended up sleeping in. Pup joined me.  She curled up at my legs & kept me company.

My legs are sore from all the walking.  But, it doesn’t really bother me much.  It’s just the darned hands & feet.

Wonder how long this one will last.
